Operators are using nascent AI technology to reduce costs, but are starting to consider its potential to generate new business and revenue.
Tom Rebbeck is a partner and senior member of Analysys Mason’s research team. He is responsible for our forecasting, business and consumer services. His expertise includes IoT, FMC, MVNOs and asset-light service providers, and he works extensively on corporate and consumer telecoms sectors. His principal role is to identify the emerging trends shaping the evolution of the telecoms industry, and to offer insight into what consumers and businesses want from telecoms operators. His work gives telecoms operators the insight to price and bundle their services to make them attractive to the target audience.
Tom’s focus on future trends has allowed him to identify many of the industry’s developments at an early stage, and to give clients the opportunity to act quickly and decisively to capitalise on new prospects. One example was the increased role of business services as a major revenue driver for operators; pure IT services, cloud and security are now a substantial part of operator revenue.
As well as published research, he has worked on projects for a range of clients – including operators, regulators, industry bodies and vendors. Many of these projects have been supported by original research, such as interviews and customer surveys.
Tom has a BA in Modern History from the University of Strathclyde and worked as a telecoms and satellite journalist early in his career. He first joined Analysys Mason in 2004. He spent 3 years at Telefónica as Global Project Manager, gaining valuable client-side experience, before rejoining Analysys Mason in 2011.
Outside the office, Tom is an adventurous road cyclist, and has completed many long-distance rides across different continents.
