Securing major investment for superfast broadband in the UK

Cornwall Council is undertaking one of the most ambitious rural broadband projects anywhere in the world.

With the support of European funding, Cornwall Council has attracted significant private-sector investment for a GBP132 million project to roll out superfast broadband across the county that will enhance the economic and social prosperity of its businesses and residents.

The contract announced with BT was secured after Analysys Mason supported the Council in designing and managing the process to select a private-sector investor.

The selection of a private-sector investor involved managing a competition process in accordance with European procurement legislation, obtaining clearance for State aid, and satisfying the conditions for EU Major Projects funding.

Analysys Mason managed the complex process by keeping a firm focus on the project outcomes for the businesses and residents of Cornwall.
