The problem
- A North African integrated operator sought help with their plan to deploy fibre to the home (FTTH) in their country, although some roll out had already been carried out in dense urban areas the operator was looking to expand their network nationwide
- We were brought in to establish possible roll-out scenarios in terms of both technical structure and business model
The solution
- We worked closely with the operator’s business and technical experts through a series of workshops to:
- define the different roll-out scenarios and their grading criteria
- show our methodology in evaluating the scenarios and presenting the results
- identify the various stakeholders the operator would have to interact with and the tasks the operator would have to undertake to establish their FTTH business model within a certain timeline
- Some of the scenarios included how physically sharable the infrastructure should be, and whether the business model should resemble a retailco or a fibreco, with the possibility that these factors might be different based on the different zones within the country

The result
- On top of the expertise we were able to provide to the operator during the workshop sessions, we produced a report outlining our analyses and conclusions, including what scenarios we considered to be the most viable
