Ismael is a Manager in Analysys Mason’s Dubai office. Ismael has significant experience in the telecoms sector and has supported industry players on a variety of topics, including spectrum valuation and spectrum strategy, transaction support and emerging technologies strategy.
Ismael’s core expertise lies in applying customised mathematical models to a range of topics in the telecoms sector to generate quantitative-driven insights that aid key decision-making processes. He has helped numerous mobile network operators to prepare for major 4G and 5G spectrum awards in Europe, South America, South Asia, South-East Asia and the Middle East. This support typically covered spectrum strategy, network strategy, spectrum valuation, competitor assessment and bid strategy.
Ismael has also advised industry players on potential transactions, including in support of mergers between mobile network operators and the acquisition/sale of digital infrastructure (including towers, fibre and data centres). In one of his recent projects, Ismael helped a regulator to formulate its emerging technology adoption strategy covering smart agriculture; smart mining, energy, oil and gas; smart manufacturing, smart cities, the metaverse and non-fungible tokens.
Ismael holds a PhD in Materials Science and Metallurgy from the University of Cambridge, UK, in addition to MEng degrees in Industrial Engineering and Materials Engineering from the University of Navarra, Spain. Prior to joining Analysys Mason, Ismael worked for Aetha Consulting, a boutique telecoms firm, and undertook doctoral research at the University of Cambridge, UK.
