Rod has over 25 years' experience in the telecoms sector. He has an excellent record of delivering a wide range of assignments involving fixed and mobile next-generation networks for operators, financial institutions, regulators and other public bodies. Rod has extensive project management experience, and has successfully completed projects encompassing network strategy, business and technical due diligence, procurement and custom research.
He has undertaken numerous technical due diligence projects around the world, both fixed and mobile, including design and performance reviews. He has fixed network experience including defining broadband access strategies (including fibre to the premises (FTTP), hybrid fibre coaxial (HFC) and digital subscriber line (DSL)), end-to-end design and procurement. He has also undertaken numerous FTTP network strategy assessments. His mobile network experience includes advising on LTE strategy and radio access site consolidation as well as reviewing the network performance of mobile operators in Africa and Asia. He has also advised a major UK mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) on the transition of its core systems from 'thin' MVNO to 'thick' MVNO. Other notable projects include devising an FTTP strategy for a utility company in the Middle East and the critical review of the HFC deployment strategy for an operator in Asia–Pacific.
Rod has a BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Birmingham.
