Gulf-based operators have been some of the first in the world to introduce 5G fixed-wireless access (FWA) services. Their position in the fixed broadband market and their ambition to capitalise on the revenue growth potential of 5G FWA have influenced their deployment strategies. In this article, we analyse the 5G FWA deployment models that have emerged in the region and assess the opportunities and challenges for operators that are aiming to develop a profitable business strategy.
