Learning lessons from Chinese operators’ successes with network APIs
China Mobile reported that it handled 15 billion cumulative network API calls in July 2024, which would give an estimated USD65 million in revenue. Official revenue figures have not been published, but it is clear that Chinese operators are having some success, particularly for anti-fraud/authentication use cases and the Quality On Demand (QoD) API, and have plenty of customer references from some of China’s biggest companies.
