The Belgian consumer mobile market is currently dominated by three fixed–mobile convergence (FMC) operators: Orange, Proximus and Telenet. Indeed, these three operators together accounted for 93.2% of mobile subscriptions in 3Q 2023, according to the Analysys Mason DataHub. However, Citymesh’s entrance into the Belgian mobile market in 2024 will threaten the mobile revenue of these players.

The Belgian regulator (BIPT) set out to increase competition in the consumer mobile market by reserving spectrum for a fourth entrant in its 2020 5G auction. Citymesh was the successful bidder and is expected to launch its consumer mobile services in 2024.
