Nokia announced the completion of its acquisition of Infinera for USD2.3 billion on 28 February 2024. The acquisition will enable Nokia to strengthen the optical pillar of its business and accelerate its technology developments. The increased scale brought about by the deal is projected to boost Nokia’s optical networking revenue by 75% and generate EUR200 million in operating profit synergies by 2027. Nokia will also benefit from Infinera’s established relationships in North America, with customers such as hyperscale cloud and internet service providers, data-centre operators and submarine cable providers. Simultaneously, Infinera will also gain immediate access to Nokia’s extensive international sales channels.
