On 29 June 2023, Nokia and Red Hat announced a partnership that will see Red Hat serving as the primary (though not exclusive) cloud infrastructure supplier of Nokia's core network functions, while Nokia will cease its own container-as-a-service (CaaS) and virtual infrastructure management (VIM) efforts. Red Hat and Nokia will together provide support for the existing customers of Nokia’s CaaS and VIM solutions, which include Nokia Container Services (NCS) and Nokia CloudBand Infrastructure Software (CBIS), helping them to transition to Red Hat’s platforms.
