Cloud-native architecture is a necessity for 5G networks and the applications deployed over them. It provides the agility that communications service providers (CSPs) require to rapidly provision networking resources, applications and services based on intent. Cloud-native networks built using containers and microservices will be based on the technology and design principles laid down by the open-source Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF). This has wide-ranging implications for the network and IT operations technology and processes that underpin CSPs’ businesses. In this article, we will discuss the implications of the use of cloud-native networks on monitoring and assurance applications.
