"Satellite vendors should consider which technologies are necessary to develop their planned infrastructure, and should build an execution plan to thrive in the competitive space infrastructure market."

Analysys Mason attended the largest conference for the satellite industry, Satellite 2025, in Washington DC in March 2025. The challenge of managing supply chains that are severely limited was a topic that came up repeatedly among both vendors and operators at the event.

Supply chains have become so limited because satellite demand has increased significantly in recent years as satellite services have continued to prove to be more compatible and competitive with terrestrial applications. Demand has shifted from single units to large-scale orders; over 200 satellite constellations are currently in development. Managing, or rather fixing, the supply chain of materials and components is critical to the future of the industry and it is becoming problematic as production rates and expectations increase.
