Earth observation (EO) service providers are carefully monitoring SpaceX’s development of its Starshield solution for government and military applications, which has the ability to accommodate different payloads including those for Earth observation (EO). SpaceX is capitalising on its well-established relations with the US government by offering launch and manufacturing services, and it is therefore likely that it will enter the EO data market, given that the US government is the largest customer worldwide for EO data.
