This report is based on a survey of ten Earth observation (EO) satellite operators worldwide, including both domestic-only players and larger regional and global players. The satellite operators surveyed provide solutions of various types such as synthetic aperture radar (SAR), optical and non-imagery.

We asked respondents about their data offerings and plans regarding downstream solutions, including which customers they serve (government/military or commercial) and which use cases they address. We also asked respondents how artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) is affecting their services and operations.

Questions answered in this report

  • What are the current and emerging use cases for EO?
  • What is the impact of AI/ML on the EO market and operations?
  • What are the key customer groups for EO solutions? What is changing in the EO customer landscape?
  • What are the preferred service models for imagery sales?
  • What are the short-, medium- and long-term pricing trends?
  • How is the EO value chain evolving?
