Telecoms operator renewable energy benchmarks 2024
19 March 2025 | Research
Survey report | PPTX and PDF (11 slides) | Sustainable Networks
This report presents a range of unique renewable energy investment benchmarks derived from a confidential survey of 31 telecoms operators worldwide undertaken by Analysys Mason in 2024. The benchmarks cannot be obtained by analysing publicly available data.
The survey results highlight that energy cost and security are major drivers of telecoms operators’ renewable energy investments. Off-site renewable energy will be used as a primary energy source by the same number of telecoms operators that use grid energy by 2028. Many operators are already entering into long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) to stabilise energy cost and supply.
Topics analysed
- Current and projected energy sources used by operators
- Use of on-site and off-site renewable sources
- Types and quantities of power purchase agreements signed
- Barriers to renewable energy adoption
- Drivers of renewable energy adoption
- How to monetise excess renewable energy capacity
