"CSPs are increasingly interested in GenAI use cases, but recent CSP activity shows that non-GenAI technologies still have a considerable role to play in CSPs' operations."

The number of communications service provider (CSP) activities related to analytics and AI tools captured by our tracker was 77% higher in 1H 2024 than in 2H 2023. A growing number of CSPs running trials around generative AI (GenAI), along with CSPs implementing private AI infrastructure to support internal and enterprise services use cases, largely drove this activity increase.

This report provides:

  • an analysis of recent CSP AI/analytics activities, including deals linked to non-generative AI (non-GenAI) and GenAI technologies
  • insights into the non-GenAI and GenAI related use cases that CSPs are implementing
  • insights into how CSPs are choosing to implement non-GenAI and GenAI use cases, including details of CSPs’ efforts to develop their own foundation models.

This report is based on our Communications service provider AI/analytics activity tracker.
